Air Motors
Pneumatic air motors are powered through the use of compressed air to generate torque and rotational motion. They do not need the variety of support components required with electric motors, including magnetic starters, overload protection, and more. If overloads that exceed stall torque happen, air motors are typically not harmed, whereas electric motors trip circuit breakers requiring a reset before equipment can run again. Pneumatic motors are used in various industries, including medical, transportation, general industrial, food/beverage, and more. Their applications include mixing, pump drives, hose reels, tensioners, turntables, and more. Since they operate using compressed air and are non-electrical devices, they are an excellent alternative to explosion-proof motors that need to be used in volatile, explosive atmospheres. They also operate well in wet, corrosive environments.
